Cabinet Approves Recruitment of 15,000 Police Personnel
Mumbai – In a significant move to bolster the state’s police force, the Maharashtra cabinet has greenlit the recruitment of 15,000 police personnel. This decision, announced following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, aims to fill a large number of vacant positions and strengthen law enforcement across the state.1
A notable aspect of this recruitment drive is the special provision being made for candidates who have crossed the prescribed age limit for the years 2022 and 2023. These individuals will be granted a one-time opportunity to apply, offering a second chance to many aspiring police officers.
The recruitment process is conducted at the district level and will be based on an OMR-based written examination. The vacancies to be filled include posts that have become available in 2024 and those expected to open up in 2025.
Distribution of Posts
The recruitment will cover various roles within the police department. The breakdown of the 15,000 posts is as follows:2
- Police Constable: 10,908 posts
- Armed Police Constable: 2,393 posts
- Prison Constable: 554 posts
- Police Constable Driver: 234 posts
