Intelligence Bureau Announces Recruitment 2025 for 455 Security Assistant (MT)

The Intelligence Bureau (IB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India, has announced a direct recruitment drive for the post of Security Assistant (Motor Transport), or SA(MT) . The application window is open for eligible Indian nationals for positions across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) . A total of 455 vacancies are available .

The SA(MT) position is a General Central Service, Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial role .

Pay and Allowances

The selected candidates will be placed in the Level-3 pay scale, which ranges from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 . In addition to the standard Central Government allowances, a Special Security Allowance of 20% of the basic pay is also provided . Candidates are also eligible for cash compensation for working on holidays, up to a maximum of 30 days .

Eligibility and Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must meet specific criteria as of the closing date, September 28, 2025 .

  • Education: A Matriculation (10th grade) certificate from a recognized Board of Education is mandatory .
  • Driving: Candidates must possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license issued by the competent authority and have at least one year of driving experience after obtaining the license .
  • Motor Mechanism: Applicants should have knowledge of motor mechanisms and be able to remove minor defects in a vehicle .
  • Domicile: A domicile certificate of the state against which the candidate has applied is required .
  • Age Limit: The age of the applicant must be between 18 and 27 years . Age relaxation is available for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and departmental candidates (up to 40 years), among others.

Examination Scheme

The selection process consists of two tiers:

  1. Tier-I (Online Exam): A 100-mark, objective-type test with 100 questions, to be completed in one hour . The exam is divided into five parts: General Awareness, Basic Transport/Driving Rules, Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical/Analytical/Logical ability & Reasoning, and English Language . A negative marking of 1/4 mark is applied for each wrong answer .
  2. Tier-II (Motor Mechanism & Driving test cum Interview): This practical test is worth 50 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 20 . Candidates will be required to drive a vehicle and demonstrate their practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and defect removal .

Step-by-Step Application Process

  1. Access the Portal: Apply only through the official MHA website (www.mha.gov.in) or the NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in) .1
  2. Registration: Complete the initial registration (Step-I) by providing personal and contact details . A login ID (Application Sequence Number) and password will be sent to the registered email address .
  3. Complete the Form: Re-login to complete the application (Step-II) by filling in personal and qualification details .
  4. Upload Documents: Upload a recent color passport-size photograph (50-100KB, jpg/jpeg format) and a scanned signature (50-100KB, jpg/jpeg format) . The photograph should not be older than 12 weeks and should have a light background .
  5. Fee Payment: Pay the required fees online via the SBI EPAY LITE gateway using a debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI . An offline challan option is also available .

Application Fees

  • Recruitment Processing Charges: ₹550 (to be paid by all candidates) .
  • Examination Fee: ₹100 (for male candidates of UR, EWS, and OBC categories) .
  • Exemptions: Female, SC/ST, and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from the examination fee but must pay the ₹550 recruitment processing charges.

Applicants are advised to apply well in advance of the closing date and to ensure all information is correct before final submission, as the form cannot be edited afterwards . Submission of multiple applications may lead to cancellation .2
