Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification
- Option 1:
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized University/Institute.
- Registered as Nurses & Midwife with State / Indian Nursing Council.
- Option 2:
- B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/University.
- Registered as Nurses & Midwife with State / Indian Nursing Council.
- Option 3:
- Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/Board or Council.1
- Registered as Nurses & Midwife in State / Indian Nursing Council.2
- Two Years’ Experience in a minimum 50 bedded Hospital after acquiring the educational qualificatio3n. The experience must be gained after obtaining the essential qualification, i.e., after completing the residency period of the course, declaration of result & registration with the State/Indian Nursing Council.
Age Limit
- For all AIIMS: Between 18-30 Years.
- Age will be counted on the last date of closing of the application form.
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation is permissible beyond the upper age limit of 30 years as follows:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PWBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): 10 years, subject to a maximum age of 56 years.
- PWBD + OBC: 13 years, subject to a maximum age of 56 years.
- PWBD + SC/ST: 15 years, subject to a maximum age of 56 years.
- Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECO/SSCOs: Length of military service plus 3 years.
- Central Govt. Civilian Employees – for Group B posts:
- General/Unreserved who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service: 5 years.
- OBC who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service: 8 (5+3) years.
- SC/ST who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service: 10 (5+5) years.
Application Fees
- General/OBC Candidates: Rs.3000/-
- SC/ST Candidates/EWS: Rs.2400/-
- Persons with Disabilities: Exempted
- Payment Mode: DEBIT CARD/CREDIT CARD/NETBANKING. Transaction/Processing fee, if any, will be payable to the bank by the candidate.
- Application fees, once remitted, will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Applications without the prescribed fee will not be considered and will be summarily rejected.
- Application fees for SC/ST candidates who appear in the Examination will be refunded after the declaration of results upon verification of the SC/ST certificate.
How to Apply
- Applications must be submitted only through ON-LINE mode via the website www.aiimsexams.ac.in.1
- No physical documents, including the online application form, are required to be sent.
- Applicants are advised to keep a copy of the Application Form and proof of payment for their records.
- Candidates must fill their registration form carefully as no correction will be allowed after specified dates.
- All required certificates (photo, signature, thumb impression) must be uploaded as per guidelines.

Selection Process
The NORCET examination will be conducted in two successive stages:
- Stage I: NORCET Preliminary
- Qualifying Examination: This stage is a qualifying examination, and its marks will not be used for deciding Merit/Rank for final selection.
- Duration: 90 minutes.
- Questions: 100 MCQs of 100 marks.
- 20 MCQs related to General Knowledge & Aptitude.
- 80 MCQs related to the syllabus of Nursing courses at the essential qualification level.
- Negative Marking: 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
- Sectional Timing: Paper divided into 5 sections, each 18 minutes duration with 20 questions. Sections will be enabled sequentially, and access to a section will be disabled once its time lapses.
- Qualifying Marks (Percentile):
- UR/EWS: 50 percentile
- OBC: 45 percentile
- SC & ST: 40 percentile
- PWBD: Additional 5 percentile relaxation (UR/EWS-PWBD-45 percentile, OBC-PWBD-40 percentile, SC/ST-PWBD-35 percentile).
- Candidates for Stage II: Equal to 5 times the total seats in each category (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) will be called for Stage II. All qualified PWBD candidates and all tie cases will also be called.
- Stage II: NORCET Main
- Duration: 180 minutes.
- Questions: 160 MCQs of 160 marks related to the subject covering the entire syllabus of Nursing courses, focused on case scenario-based questions for testing nursing skills competency.
- Negative Marking: 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
- Sectional Timing: Paper divided into 4 sections, each 45 minutes duration with 40 questions. Sections will be enabled sequentially, and access to a section will be disabled once its time lapses.
- Qualifying Marks (Percentage):
- UR/EWS: 50%
- OBC: 45%
- SC & ST: 40%
- PWBD: Additional 5% relaxation (UR/EWS-PWBD-45%, OBC-PWBD-40%, SC/ST-PWBD-35%).
- Syllabus: In accordance with the educational qualification and experience mentioned in the Eligibility Section/Advertisement.
- Resolution of Tie Cases:
- First, by date of birth (older candidates placed higher).
- If not resolved, by the number of wrong answers/negative marks (fewer wrong answers/negative marks placed higher).
Merit List & Allocation of Seats (Based on Stage II NORCET Mains)
- Merit list prepared based on performance in NORCET Mains only.
- Normalization procedure applicable if CBT is conducted in multiple shifts.
- Choices will be invited only from qualified, eligible candidates.
- Generally, there will be only one round of seat allocation.
- Allocation will be made in order of merit based on candidate preferences.
- Candidates allocated a seat must join; failure to join will result in mandatory cancellation of candidature for that NORCET.
- No waiting list for NORCET, as it is planned to be conducted twice a year.
- Detailed information on the allocation process will be published after the declaration of qualified candidates.
General Conditions and Important Notes
- No Objection Certificate (NOC): Mandatory for candidates working in Government/Semi or Quasi Government / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies or any institution funded by Government. Must be produced at the time of Document Verification.
- Document Verification: Provisionally qualified candidates will undergo document verification by respective AIIMS / Hospitals. Original certificates along with one attested/self-attested photocopy are required.
- Certificates Required for Document Verification:
- Copy of downloaded Registration Slip of the online application form.
- Copy of downloaded Admit Card.
- Certificate showing Date of Birth.
- Caste certificate/Income & Asset Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS).
- Disability Certificate (PWBD).
- Certificate for age relaxation sought on grounds other than caste/PWBD.
- ‘No Objection Certificate’ if in regular employment.
- Education qualification certificates.
- INC/State Nursing Council registration.
- Experience certificate.
- Any other required certificates.
- Scribe and Compensatory Time: Rules apply for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and those with less than 40% disability but with difficulty in writing, as per government guidelines.
- All required certificates for scribe/compensatory time must be uploaded at the time of registration.
- Applicants can opt for their own scribe or request one from the Examination Section.
- Qualification of own scribe must be one step below the minimum qualification criteria of the Test, but always matriculated only.
- Disciplinary Action: Legal and disciplinary action will be initiated against candidates found guilty of misconduct, including but not limited to impersonation, submitting fabricated documents, providing false information, using unfair means, or misbehaving during the examination.
- Provisional Acceptance: Applications are accepted provisionally. Candidature will be cancelled at any stage if information or claims are not substantiated.
