Applications has been invited for the post of “Lab Technician” for the Anti-Microbial Resistance Project under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Sri Vijaya Puram. This position is for a period of 01 year on a contractual basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

  • B.Sc in MLT from a recognized university with 01 year of experience.
  • (OR)
  • 10+2 in Science subjects with DMLT (two years course) from a recognized University/Institute with 03 years of experience. Experience must be in a clinical Lab, preferably a bacteriology Lab.

Desirable Qualification

  • M.Sc Microbiology/Life Science/Biotech.
  • Work experience in a Microbiology laboratory.
  • Knowledge of computer application.

Age Limit

Not more than 40 years

Selection Process

Selection Procedure

  • The venue and date of the interview/details of the selection test will be intimated through the official website of ANIIMS after scrutiny of applications.
  • The decision of the competent authority/selection committee regarding the selection of candidates will be final and no further representation will be entertained.
  • The selection committee reserves all rights to change the selection procedure, rules, and cancellation of rules.

Vacancy Changes

The number of vacancies is subject to change without prior intimation (increase/decrease/cancelled). The Director, ANIIMS, reserves the right to reschedule/cancel notified vacancies at any stage of the “interview/selection”.

Nature of Post

The post is purely temporary, and the candidate has no right to claim for regular appointment. Selected candidates will not be eligible for any benefits of a permanent employee.

Travel Allowance

No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.

Schedule Changes

The schedule is tentative and subject to change depending upon the availability of the Selection Committee. Any changes will be updated on the ANIIMS website.2

Roles and Responsibilities of Lab Technician

  1. To support the AMR programme work in the Microbiology Lab, including sample collection, processing, testing, reporting, and other related work.
  2. To perform phenotypic characterization of bacterial isolates, antimicrobial susceptibility testing of isolates, MIC tests, AMR detection tests, and send them for further EQAS and molecular testing to the NCDC.
  3. Perform regular internal quality control testing and its documentation.
  4. Indent for supplies to the Laboratory through the lab in-charge and ensure sufficient stock of lab consumables is available.
  5. To practice good lab practices, including biosafety and appropriate biomedical waste disposal, and support WHONET entry of data.
  6. Participate in the trainings and workshops conducted by NCDC.
  7. Any other duties assigned by the HOD/AMR Nodal officer.
