TVS RAIDER- Introduction

The TVS RAIDER 125 is an appealing entry-level commuter motorcycle. Its sporty design and abundance of features make it particularly suitable for the Indian market. Additionally, it is equipped with a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. TVS Motor Company is intensifying its efforts to capture a portion of the 125cc market in India. The introduction of the new Raider 125 complements the existing Ntorq 125, aiming to appeal to the younger demographic within this segment. During the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, TVS presented the flex-fuel model of the TVS RAIDER 125, designed to operate with an ethanol blend of up to 85 percent.

TVS RAIDER Design

The LED headlight of the Raider imparts a distinctive character to the motorcycle; while some may consider it excessive, it undeniably contributes a unique flair. Equipped with standard LED head and tail lights, it caters to individuals who aspire to own a larger motorcycle but opt for a 125cc model due to financial limitations.

RAIDER Quality

TVS has been making significant advancements in the design of its products. The front fascia showcases a distinctive headlight configuration with integrated daytime running lights, presenting a look that is unlike anything observed in recent times. Accompanying the front fascia is a compact LCD screen, which will be discussed in further detail later in this review. The fuel tank is adorned with a robust fibre cover, enhanced by black tank cowls and a plastic cladding that extends through the top center.

RAIDER Engine, Fuel Efficiency, and Performance

The Raider’s 124.8cc engine, while sharing the same displacement as the NTorq 125, exhibits notable differences. It generates 11.38PS at 7500rpm and 11.2Nm at 6000rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox, providing an exhilarating experience in urban environments. The engine only begins to feel strained at speeds exceeding 85kmph, which is typical for its engine size. Additionally, the engine demonstrates impressive tractability, performing admirably in congested traffic conditions even in the absence of TVS’ GTT (Glide Through Traffic) technology. It accelerates smoothly from low speeds, even in third gear, which is advantageous for novice riders. Adhering to a ‘frugal commuter’ philosophy, it effectively conserves fuel. With a 10-litre fuel tank, individuals with a daily commute of 50-60km will find that they need to refuel approximately once every two weeks.

RAIDER Features

The negative LCD display is designed for easy readability while on the move, providing a wealth of information related to the ride. This includes a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, two trip meters, time, eco/power mode readout, and a recorder for both top and average speeds.

The TVS Raider, same to the NTorq 125, presents two distinct riding modes: Eco, which delivers a more subdued throttle response, and Power, which facilitates a more vigorous acceleration. Notably, the Raider is equipped with TVS’ Intelligo Stop-Start system, although it is functional solely in Eco mode. From a practical standpoint, the Raider includes a USB port, enabling users to connect their mobile devices for navigation without the concern of depleting the battery. Additionally, it features a compact underseat storage compartment, perfect for stowing small items or documents. Furthermore, TVS provides a premium variant that includes a TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, Voice Assist, and turn-by-turn navigation through the TVS SmartXonnect app.
